Why is the total cost of the 6-month subscription plan charged up front?

We offer a prepaid multi-month plan for a 6-month subscription. These subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each prepaid term, and the total amount is billed upfront in order to provide a discount to our subscribers for committing to a longer-term subscription plan.
