Why is the total cost of the 3, 6 and 12 month subscription plans charged up front?

We offer prepaid multi-month plans in 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions. These subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each prepaid term and the total amount is billed upfront in order to provide a discount to our subscribers for committing to a longer-term subscription plan.
